DETROIT — Stellantis Ram has redesigned its large, heavy-duty trucks — and is betting those updates will help reverse three straight years of declining sales for the brand.
The new Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks feature updated cab architecture, interior and exterior designs, plus a new 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine that produces a best-in-class 430 horsepower and 1,075 pound-feet of torque, according to GM. Car maker.
The heavy-duty trucks are expected to reach U.S. dealers during the first quarter of this year, and will sell for about $2,300 more than current models, starting at $47,560.
They follow the late introduction of its redesigned smaller sibling, the Ram 1500, which was released last year.

Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who returned to the automaker in December after retiring in May, said the Ram 1500 offering is improving.
“It's very late, let's be honest,” Kuniskis said during a media event. “We should have gone all out on that (1500) truck this summer. We should have had (the heavy trucks) already.” “It gets better every day.”
Pickup trucks are important products for American brands like Ram, which reported a 19% year-over-year sales decline in 2024. This included a 16% decline in sales of its Ram pickup trucks. This compares with competitors such as Ford and GMChevrolet, which announced the level of sales of its pickup trucks in 2024.

“We got our asses kicked,” Kuniskis said, noting that the introduction of the 1500 model was largely responsible for the brand's declining sales.
The diesel engine is an important choice for heavy-duty truck customers, many of whom use the vehicles for hauling, towing and other work-related tasks. The other engine option is a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 that delivers 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque.
For 2025, Ram's heavy-duty lineup includes the Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn and Limited models. The trucks are manufactured in Saltillo, Mexico.
