Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office announced on Saturday that she underwent successful hip replacement surgery after she was injured while traveling with a congressional delegation in Luxembourg.
Her spokesman, Ian Krager, said in a press statement that Pelosi, 84, “underwent a hip replacement and is in good condition.”
“Speaker Pelosi has a tremendous outpouring of prayers and well wishes, and she is always determined to ensure access to quality health care for all Americans,” he said.
On Friday, the Democratic spokeswoman emeritus and current U.S. representative from California was hospitalized after “sustaining an injury during an official engagement,” Crager said in a press release after the incident.
A spokesman did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for additional details about the surgery.
In a photo released by the US Embassy in Luxembourg earlier Friday, Pelosi was seen standing and holding hands with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, Republican of Texas, who led the delegation.

In an X post later Friday, McCaul predicted Pelosi would recover soon.
“I am disappointed that Speaker Emerita Pelosi will not be able to join the rest of our delegation’s events this weekend because I know how much she looks forward to honoring our veterans,” McCaul wrote.
“But she's strong, and I'm confident she'll be back on her feet in no time. Praying for a speedy recovery, Speaker Pelosi!”
The 18-member bipartisan delegation was scheduled to travel to Belgium and Luxembourg to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, when German and Allied forces clashed in the Ardennes region during World War II.
Pelosi's office said before the trip that US lawmakers were preparing to participate in anniversary ceremonies on Friday and Saturday “along with veterans and their families, active-duty soldiers, government and military officials, and prominent foreign dignitaries.”
Pelosi “conveys her thanks and praise to the veterans and her gratitude to the people of Luxembourg and Bastogne for their service in World War II and their role in bringing peace to Europe,” Krager said in a statement on Friday.
“Speaker Emerita Pelosi was personally and formally honored to travel with the distinguished delegation, many of whom had family members who fought in World War II — including her Uncle Johnny,” the spokesman said.
“She is looking forward to returning home to the United States soon,” he added.
