Check out the companies making headlines in midday trading: Intel – The struggling chip stock has rebounded at the end of the year, rising nearly 1.2% in midday trading. Intel is down more than 60% in 2024, leaving the stock on the cusp of having its worst year ever and being the second-worst performer in the S&P 500. Nvidia – The AI giant and retail investor's favorite is down 1.3% as traders cash in. Profits at the end of the trading year. With a surge of more than 170%, Nvidia is poised to be the third-best performer in the S&P 500 for 2024. Sangamo Therapeutics – Shares fell 54% after the genomic medicine company said its partner Pfizer has terminated the licensing and development agreement for its hemophilia A gene therapy. Sangamo retained the rights to the product. Biohaven – Biopharma stock rose nearly 2% after director John Childs revealed a purchase of 29,000 shares. Childs now owns about 6.5 million shares. Nutriband – Shares jumped more than 8% after Nutriband said it expects an accelerated review process for its abuse-deterrent opioid patch called AVERSA Fentanyl, which could put the company in a position to seek regulatory approval before the end of 2025. This comes after an announcement Nutriband last week extended its Chinese patent to Macau for this technology.
