curry hallyu, Goldman Sachs' The head of strategy and investor relations has been promoted to global treasurer at the bank, according to people familiar with the matter.
Her new role, effective June 1, includes authority over the company's balance sheet worth more than $1.6 trillion, with responsibilities including oversight of the company's liquidity, financing and capital. She will report to Dennis Coleman, CFO of Goldman Sachs.
Philipp Berlinsky, the former global treasurer, will leave the bank to become co-chief operating officer of Millennium Management, a $62 billion hedge fund, according to the Financial Times.
As part of her new role, Hallyu will oversee a team of about 900 people, the people familiar with the matter said. She will also serve on the management committee.
“As an established leader of the firm with experience working across many of our divisions and partnering with leaders across the organization to drive our strategic priorities forward, Carrie will bring important experience and perspectives to her new role,” said David Solomon, CEO of Goldman Sachs. Memo obtained by CNBC. “Carey will continue to oversee the corporate strategy team on an interim basis.”
Prior to managing Strategy and Investor Relations, Halliu was CEO of Goldman Sachs USA and Deputy Treasurer of Goldman Sachs. She joined the company in 1999 as a summer credit risk associate and rejoined the following year, eventually becoming head of the Americas Financial Institutions team in credit risk.
Jehan Elahi, who has worked with Hallio for years in strategy and investor relations, will become head of investor relations.
Goldman Sachs is scheduled to announce first-quarter earnings on Monday.
