Chinese stocks saw heavy selling in another volatile trading day amid mixed markets in the Asia-Pacific region on Wednesday.
The mainland's CSI 300 index fell 4.4%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 0.7% in a choppy session. On Tuesday, the HSI recorded its worst day in 16 years, closing down 9.41%.
Japan Nikki 225 The broad-based Topix rose 0.95%, while the broad-based Topix rose 0.29%.
Australia Standard & Poor's/ASX 200 It rose by 0.13% to close at 8,187.4.
Investors are focusing on the policy decisions of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and the Reserve Bank of India.
The New Zealand central bank cut interest rates by 50 basis points to 4.75%, while the Reserve Bank of India kept interest rates at 6.5%.
South Korean markets are closed due to a public holiday.
