apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a blog post on Monday that the upcoming Apple Watch will be thinner and have a larger screen.
The Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to be released in September when the company usually introduces the next batch of new wearables and iPhone models. Kuo said that the screen sizes of the two Apple Watch models will increase from 41 mm to 44 mm and from 45 mm to 49 mm.
Kuo added that the specifications of the Apple Watch Ultra model will remain “about the same,” although a darker case option may be offered if production yields meet expectations.
Kuo added that the watch will include components manufactured using 3D printing technology starting in the second half of the year.
While Apple has not yet mass produced devices using 3D printing. The company tested 3D printing to produce the Apple Watch Series 9 in 2023 to reduce manufacturing time and the amount of materials used. Kuo said the test “significantly improved” production efficiency.
Bright Laser Technologies will supply the 3D-printed watch components, according to Kuo. Demand for shipments of parts by the China-based 3D printing company is expected to grow in the coming years due to the cost advantages of 3D printing, he said. Kuo also pointed out the possibility of using this technology in the production of Apple Watch cases.
