A plane carrying 57 passengers and four crew members crashed in Brazil on Friday, killing everyone on board, the airline operating the flight said.
The Voipas Linhas Aéreas plane had taken off from Cascavel and was heading to Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport when it crashed, according to an earlier statement from Voipas Linhas Aéreas.
Cascavel is located in the state of Paraná, southwest of Sao Paulo.
The airline confirmed on Friday afternoon that all 61 people on board the plane had been killed. It had previously said the plane was carrying 62 people.
The airline said it had no information on how the plane crashed.
At an event on Friday, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva addressed a crowd about the crash, asking for a moment of silence, noting that it appeared everyone on board had died.

Brazilian airline Voipas Linhas Aéreas said the plane, Flight 2283, crashed in the city of Vinhedo.
Response teams have been mobilized in the neighborhood where the plane crashed. The São Paulo government said in a post on its X website that the teams include firefighters, military police and civil defense.

The government said in a later post on Friday that firefighters had completed battling the blaze that had been raging at the crash site since earlier Friday afternoon.
The area was then handed over to investigators including the Forensic Police Unit.
Footage broadcast by Brazil's Globo News TV channel showed an area of flames and smoke. Other footage broadcast by the channel showed the plane spinning as it fell.
Since the plane, an ATR-72, was built in Europe, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board or the Federal Aviation Administration have no jurisdiction over the accident, according to U.S. agencies.
Brazil has a “strong” team to investigate accidents, the National Transportation Safety Board said.
